Anchors Away for Awesome Decor!

Anchor decor

Is your living space feeling a little dreary this winter? Do you dream of cool ocean breezes and salt in the air? If you can’t make it to the coast, then nautical home decorations might be the next best thing. Of course, a complete overhaul of your home decor might be a bit much, but with a wall mounted bell and a porthole clock, you can bring the feel of the sea into your environment.

The bright blues and crisp whites of nautical decor can work wonders to brightening any indoor space. With soothing sea tones and the soft khaki of sand and shore, a refreshing nautical theme is sure to sweep away the grey melancholy of winter and reinvigorate all who enjoy that space.

Before you dive in to shopping, you want to prepare the space you have. If you are willing and able to paint, a small amount of white trim at the windows and doors can work wonders toward opening up an interior space. Remove any accessories from the room that will clash with your nautical theme decor, including most reds, oranges, pinks, and greens.

Once your designated room is appropriately prepared, it is time to decide what to put in it! Nets, shells, model ships, and rope are the obvious choices to represent your theme. For a more subtle touch, a brass wall mounted bell, like that of a ship’s captain, or a small armillary globe can really take a room from boring blues to seaworthy space.

When you have finished converting your living space from perfectly plain to appealingly aquatic, you will spend your days feeling restful and rejuvinated. Comfortable, cozy and classy, a nautical theme is the perfect cure for the winter blues.
