Paint Like Van Gogh at Sinto Senior Activity Center

Grab a friend and learn to paint like the masters at Sinto Senior Activity Center’s Van Gogh Paint Party. During the class, an instructor will guide you step by step on how to complete a beautiful painting, giving you suggestions on colors, brushes and paint types while also allowing you enough freedom to make your artwork unique.

Absolutely no experience is necessary and all supplies will be provided, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm. It’s a great opportunity to spend time with a mother, grandmother or anyone else who would enjoy creating art in a low-key, supportive and festive atmosphere.

The party will start at 5 p.m. on Fri., May 8, and run until 8 p.m. The night costs $45 for Sinto members and $50 for non-members; that includes the instruction, all supplies, a beverage, appetizers and, of course, your completed masterpiece to take home with you.

Sinto Senior Activity Center has been around since the 1950s, and is believed to be the first senior center founded in Spokane. It strives to meet the needs of the most senior community members while also recognizing that many people of retirement age want to stay on their feet — in fact, Americans 55 and older are the fastest-growing age bracket joining gyms, with 55+ gym-goers up by 266% since 1987, according to market research organization IBISWorld.

The Sinto Center’s mission is simple: “To promote a philosophy and provide an environment which encourages and enables seniors to keep active in mind, body and spirit; to meet other people of like mind; to make friends; to share interests with others and enjoy life.”

Members of the center have access to regular events, meals and classes, and receive discounted prices on many outings and activities. Annual dues start at $20 for the first qualifying family member.
