How to Estimate a Vinyl Siding Installation
Siding is an important aspect of homeownership. It keeps the elements outside and maintains the insulation of your home. If you’re considering vinyl installation, the cost is likely at the forefront of your mind. This video explains how to estimate the cost and size of a vinyl siding installation.
The first thing to do is to take photos of the front, back, and sides of the home. This will give a general idea of the size and design of the home. It also serves as a reference point as the project is underway.
The standard walls and gables of the home are the first things you want to measure. The standing wall areas are most often a square or rectangle, so you want to collect the length and width of each.
Next are the gables. If you don’t have a ladder tall enough to safely measure the gables, you can estimate using the width of the standard walls and the number of panels you see on the gables above the gutter line. Make sure to count twice!
Dormers are parts of a home that jut out of the slanted roof. Estimate the height and width of all of the dormers, and add it to the total you calculated from the standard walls and gables.
